The gaming world has been abuzz for the past few days over an email allegedly sent by Ubisoft. According to screenshots shared on social media, the company began removing inactive accounts and games from those accounts. This situation has caused a great deal of consternation among players. Does Ubisoft delete accounts?
Is it true that Ubisoft is deleting accounts?
Recently, a Twitter user shared an email he claimed to have received from Ubisoft. According to the email, Ubisoft stated that accounts suspended for inactivity will be permanently deleted within 30 days in accordance with the terms of service.
The games on the suspended accounts will also be automatically removed. However, the email also includes a “Cancel Account Suspension” link that allows players to restore their accounts and libraries.
This caught the attention of millions of users who play Ubisoft games. Ubisoft’s social media managers stepped in to prevent confusion. In a comment on the post, they confirmed that clicking on the link would prevent the account from being deleted.
Ubisoft warned players that they do not close active accounts. It suggested that users who want to keep their accounts safe should log in and check their account status regularly.
If you are currently actively playing Ubisoft games, your account will appear active. However, if you haven’t logged into your account in a while, there’s a good chance you’ll receive an email like this. Your account will be completely deleted 30 days after you receive the email.
