As the world of e-sports continues to grow, professional tournaments have become increasingly popular. In order for professional players to compete at the highest level, their computers must be extremely powerful in terms of technical specifications. Even the slightest lag or a low frame rate can greatly affect the outcome of a match.
In a recent Counter-Strike 2 tournament organized by the Professional Gamers League (PGL), unfortunately, something unexpected happened. NVIDIA was at the center of criticism for the technical issue. Here are the details…
NVIDIA driver failure in Counter-Strike 2 tournament
PGL’s latest Counter-Strike 2 tournament pitted Virtus Pro and G2 against each other. For this tournament, computers with AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards were chosen.
According to reports, at a crucial moment during the tournament, Virtus Pro’s player James’ computer crashed. As a result, the team unfortunately had to say goodbye to the million-dollar prize tournament. James, however, remained upbeat and expressed his hopes for the next tournaments in the video he posted afterwards.
PGL, the organizer of the tournament, said after the event that the computer crashed due to an NVIDIA driver error. They said they are working with the video card giant to resolve the issue, which is unknown at this time. PGL had actually tested the computers on Counter-Strike 2 before the tournament. Despite this, such a situation has become a point of criticism in the gaming world.
