The first update for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree, released last week by FromSoftware, has arrived. The DLC, which quickly became the highest-rated DLC of all time, is taking concrete steps to address the game’s difficulty that has been driving players mad.
Released in February 2022 and becoming FromSoftware’s best-selling game by far, Elden Ring continues to dominate the market with the recent release of its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. With Metacritic scores surpassing The Witcher 3: Blood & Wine, making it the best DLC of all time, the game’s difficulty has drawn the ire of Steam users.
FromSoftware shows mercy on the difficulty
In today’s 1.12.2 update for Elden Ring, attack and damage mitigation bonuses have been increased. This change aims to provide a more enjoyable experience for players struggling to defeat bosses in the first half of the game.
Additionally, a bug causing RTX to enable itself on PCs despite being turned off has been addressed. The Elden Ring developers have announced that they plan to implement additional balance adjustments and bug fixes in future patches.
Despite its challenging difficulty, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree currently has 48,009 reviews on Steam and maintains a Mixed rating. It remains to be seen whether this update will lead players to reconsider their reviews on Steam.
