Turkey wanted to purchase F-35s from the United States in order to continue maintaining its superiority in the Aegean airspace and expand its Air Force inventory. He wanted to keep his fleet strong by purchasing a 5th generation fighter jet, but the USA made things worse. Here are the details about the US F-16 sales…
The US Senate also entered a crisis over the sale of F-16!
The United States Department of Defense Pentagon prepared a bill on January 26, 2024. Accordingly, F-35s will not be sold to Turkey. However, a package containing 40 F-16 Viper Block 70, F-110 fighter jet engines and various ammunition will be sold to Turkey. The bill was submitted for approval to the US Congress. But this time there is a different problem.
If the congress does not decide otherwise by February 10, 2024, this sale will take place and 40 F-16 Viper Block-70, as well as F-110 aircraft engines and various F-16 ammunition for MMU KAAN, will be sold to Turkey.
However, different opinions prevail about the bill awaiting approval in the congress. US Senator Rand Paul prepared an opposing bill regarding Turkey’s purchase of F-16 Viper Block 70. The bill included statements such as that Turkey’s strong F-16 fleet threatens the security of the United States.
If this bill is not supported unanimously by the congress, there will be no further problems regarding the sale. If everything goes well, the Congress is expected to approve the sale by February 10. Click here to examine the features of the F-16 Viper Block 70 aircraft that Turkey will purchase .
