Interesting claims have emerged regarding Valve’s long-awaited sequel, Half-Life 3. Some players have caught on to speculation that the company might be working on Half-Life 3. Could the iconic action-shooter series be making a comeback after all these years?
Half-Life 3 Codename Leaked
Voice actress Natasha Chandel mentioned in a LinkedIn post that she was working on a Valve project codenamed “Project White Sands.” This codename is believed to be a reference to Half-Life 3. The excitement grew even further when Chandel later removed the codename from her resume.
Details about the project were shared by a YouTuber, who discovered references to a project called “HLX” in the game’s code. The investigation led to claims that Valve is actively working on a non-VR Half-Life game, which is thought to be Half-Life 3.
The last installment in the Half-Life series was released in 2020 as a VR game. Since 2007, the company hasn’t continued the main storyline outside of VR. However, it’s important to note that the developer hasn’t officially announced any new Half-Life project yet.
Previous leaks also suggested that the company was developing a game called Deadlock, which was to feature a 6v6 multiplayer format with players battling in four different arenas. Characters would have different abilities, and players could power up their characters with items found on the map.
It’s still unclear whether HLX is a real Valve project. Although the company hasn’t made an official statement, it would make sense for them to set their sights higher after the success of Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike 2.
