Ford transfers Tesla executives for affordable electric car
According to the latest news from the industry, Ford Motor is working on a new electric vehicle platform that is kept secret. The company, which has included senior engineers from Tesla in its team, aims to make this platform affordable.
The group, controlled by CEO Jim Farley, was founded two years ago. Regardless of Ford’s work, it was aimed to develop a low-cost electric car platform. It seems that the automobile giant has stepped up the gear in this project.
After two years of work, the new leader of the team was transferred from Tesla. Engineering Director Alan Clarke , who has been working at Tesla for 12 years , will now lead Ford’s cheap electric car project. Clarke, who has previously worked closely with Musk, will also follow Ford’s new generation vehicles.
In addition to the former Tesla executive, Anil Paryani, founder of electric vehicle startup Amp , also joined the team. Amp was purchased by Ford a while ago and agreed to share its patents with the company.
Operating separately from Ford’s general vehicle platforms, this team aims to create a platform that is low-cost and can support multiple models. CEO Farley thinks that second-generation vehicles using this platform can be profitable within 12 months.
