Volkswagen (VW) has announced that it will stop producing two popular car models, the Arteon and T-Roc Cabrio. Additionally, the manual transmission version of the Polo will no longer be manufactured. This news is both sad and exciting because Volkswagen has big plans for the future. Why are they discontinuing these models? Here are the details…
Volkswagen Ends Production of Arteon and T-Roc Cabrio
Launched in 2017, the Arteon failed to meet expectations and will cease production entirely by 2026. Moreover, the T-Roc Cabrio will also be discontinued, with no new model to replace it. This marks the end of Volkswagen’s 75-year tradition of producing convertible cars. While saying goodbye is tough, Volkswagen has revealed what the future holds.
Other popular models like the T-Cross and Taigo will continue to be produced, and their production will last longer than initially planned. So, there’s no need to worry about these models. Additionally, the Polo and Touran models will also remain in production, though we will say farewell to the manual versions of the Polo.
Volkswagen has big plans. The Touareg model will continue production until the late 2020s, after which it will be replaced by an electric vehicle. Additionally, the Tiguan Allspace model will be replaced by the Tayron model at the beginning of 2025. However, due to its large battery, the Tayron will not be offered as a plug-in hybrid. Volkswagen’s future seems to be entirely electric.
Volkswagen’s move indicates a rapid transition to sustainable mobility and electric vehicles. With these changes, a significant era in the automotive world is ending, and an electric future awaits us. What do you think about this? You can share your thoughts in the comments section below.
