Volkswagen has announced the need for more government support to continue producing electric vehicles in the future. Daniela Cavallo from the Volkswagen works council is calling on the German government to more strongly support electric vehicles, especially as concerns have increased following the end of government incentives for electric cars.
Government support essential for Volkswagen’s electric vehicle future
In the coming years, millions of electric vehicles are expected on Germany’s roads. However, according to Cavallo, achieving these targets is not possible with the current support. The end of government incentives for electric vehicles has created challenges for car manufacturers.
Cavallo states that reaching the planned target of 15 million electric vehicles is not realistic with current policies. VW acknowledges its own responsibilities in electric vehicle production as well.
The company does not yet have an entry-level electric vehicle model on the market. Cavallo emphasizes the necessity of an entry model electric vehicle starting below 20,000 Euros. VW’s work in this area and plans for future models are significant for other players in the industry and consumers.
How Volkswagen and other car manufacturers will proceed with electric vehicles, and how the government will support this process, remains a subject of interest. In this major transition period, it is clear that the necessary steps must be taken and appropriate policies implemented to promote the proliferation of electric vehicles.
Volkswagen’s demand for more government support for electric vehicles reflects the challenges faced by the automotive industry and the transformations of the future. This request highlights the importance of accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation solutions, while demonstrating how critical government policies and incentives are in this transition.
Volkswagen’s call underscores the need for support for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and the adoption of eco-friendly technologies, highlighting the importance of considering this process by all stakeholders.
