In the last days of July, Volkswagen shared its second-quarter results with us. The company, along with its subsidiary brands, achieved significant sales success compared to the previous year, particularly in electric car sales.
Volkswagen increased electric car sales by 53%
In the second quarter of 2023, the Volkswagen Group reported global vehicle sales of 2,331,500. The company, which includes brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, Cupra, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ducati, MAN, and Scania, increased its sales by 18% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the first half of the year, the company sold a total of 4,372,200 vehicles, showing a 12.8% improvement compared to 2022. Volkswagen had a more successful year in every aspect, and the increase in electric vehicle sales is particularly noteworthy.
In the second quarter, the Volkswagen Group sold 180,600 fully electric vehicles. With this, the Wolfsburg-based automotive giant increased its electric vehicle sales by 53% compared to the previous year. The company had its most successful year in electric vehicle sales with these figures.
The company reached a figure of over 180,000, with Volkswagen leading the way with 94,800 electric car sales. Audi followed with 41,100 units, and Skoda with 18,900 units. Seat/Cupra sold a total of 9,700 electric vehicles, while Porsche sold 8,839 units in the last quarter.
