Apple opened the iPhone 16 series for pre-order last week. In Turkey, it was observed that the Pro family sold out within a few hours. However, the same does not seem to be the case for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in the global market.
iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max sales lag behind
According to a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, based on supply chain data, pre-orders for the Pro models lagged significantly behind last year’s iPhone 15 series. Accordingly, total sales of the iPhone 16 series reached 37 million units.
This figure represents a 12 percent drop compared to last year’s pre-orders. In particular, pre-orders for the iPhone 16 Pro Max were down 16 percent compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The drop in pre-orders for the iPhone 16 Pro was even steeper at 27 percent.
It is possible to say that iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are more successful. iPhone 16 sales increased by 10 percent compared to last year, while iPhone 16 Plus recorded 48 percent growth compared to iPhone 15 Plus. Nevertheless, Kuo stated that the basic iPhone models did not compensate for the overall decline in the series.
