For years, the popular messaging application WhatsApp has remained with the same design. After leaks about design changes emerged recently, the company has finally released a revamped design for both its iOS and Android applications. With today’s update, WhatsApp will now feature new color options and many other changes. Here are the details…
WhatsApp will offer a more seamless experience with its refreshed design
The app has been known for its green-colored logo since its inception. With this update, WhatsApp is transitioning to a completely green-focused theme, displaying notifications and buttons in green as well. Particularly, the swapping of tab buttons on the Android side to resemble those on the iOS version did not escape the notice of users.
With the application now achieving a more organized and fluid appearance, it has also introduced the ‘Darker Mode’ feature with this update. Alongside the announcements made by the company, WhatsApp’s transition to a new color palette after its previous offering of 35 different colors has been confirmed and rolled out. Embracing darker tones with the new colors, the application aims to reduce eye strain in low light conditions, thus keeping users engaged in the app for longer.
One of the reasons for transitioning to darker tones compared to previous versions is user demand. Since both Android and iOS users mostly use their phones in dark mode, their eyes have become accustomed to this theme, and this innovation for WhatsApp further enhances their experience. Additionally, with the update, icons and images now have a more rounded and outlined design.
There’s also a new attachment layout for iOS users, allowing them easier access to their gallery when sending photos and videos. Another feature of the update is the addition of categories to the channels tab. Users can now see categories such as ‘Work’ and ‘Entertainment’ separately in the channels tab.
