WhatsApp has officially announced a series of new features that will fundamentally transform the user experience. Meta’s popular app is preparing to roll out a comprehensive update package, ranging from AI-powered personalization options and enriched media sharing to advanced group management tools and practical document scanning features. These innovations aim to transform the platform from a mere messaging tool to a more interactive and personal space.
Bring Your Memories to Life on WhatsApp: The Era of Animated Photos Begins
One of the most striking innovations of the update is the revitalization it brings to media sharing. iOS users can now send Live Photos, and Android users can send Animated Photos, via WhatsApp. With this feature, sent photos will go from static frames to dynamic memories featuring both audio and short movements. This allows users to convey the atmosphere and emotion behind a photo much more effectively.
WhatsApp is taking its personalization options to the next level using Meta’s advanced AI technology. With the new “AI-Powered Chat Themes” feature, users will now be able to design the appearance of their chat windows according to their imagination.
Just describing the desired theme in a few words will be enough for the AI to create a personalized chat background for you. Similarly, AI-powered backgrounds can be created for video calls or photos and videos taken within the chat. These features will make every chat unique and personalized. However, WhatsApp notes that the AI features may not be rolled out to all users at once at the beginning and that a gradual rollout is planned.
The new update also offers practical solutions that simplify daily use. The “Group Search” feature, which will make life easier for users who are part of multiple groups, will now make finding a group much easier. Simply typing a contact’s name into the search bar in the Chats tab will instantly list all groups you share with that contact.
The “Document Scanner” feature, long available on iOS, is finally being rolled out to Android users. This feature will allow users to scan, crop, save, and send physical documents directly from WhatsApp. To enhance the range of expressions, three new sticker packs—”Fearless Bird,” “School Days,” and “Holiday”—are also being added to the platform. These new features are expected to be gradually rolled out to all Android and iOS users worldwide starting in the coming weeks.
