WhatsApp has launched its message summarization feature!

Ana sayfa / News

WhatsApp has launched its AI-powered “Message Summaries” feature, which it has been testing for a while, in the US. With the new feature, users can access a short summary of unread messages accumulated in a chat directly from the application.

The system, which works with the artificial intelligence infrastructure developed by Meta, converts message contents into short summaries of several items. In this way, it is possible to understand more quickly who said what, especially in group chats.

Thanks to the security layer called “Private Processing” in the application, the message summarization process only takes place on the device. Message contents are not sent to Meta or WhatsApp servers. With this security method offered by the application, user data does not leave the application while creating message summaries. In addition, this feature is disabled in chats with Advanced Chat Privacy settings turned on.

Users can access this feature by tapping the number of unread messages on the chat screen. The system quickly summarizes the entire chat by listing the conversations item by item. The user must manually enable this option for the feature to be active.

The Message Summaries feature is currently only available in the US and in English. Meta plans to expand the feature to more languages and regions by the end of the year. However, the company’s artificial intelligence infrastructure, Meta AI, is not yet active in some countries, including Turkey. Therefore, the global rollout of the feature may have to wait a while longer.
