WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging apps, is working on two new features to help users organize their inboxes. The new features aim to minimize unnecessary notifications and automatically block spam messages.
What does WhatsApp’s new features offer?
WhatsApp is developing a new like reaction feature to make it easier for users to manage their status updates. With this feature, status likes will now appear in the audience list instead of appearing as a heart emoji in users’ main inbox.
These likes on status updates are considered as non-time-consuming and non-prioritized notifications for users. Users will also have the option to turn off these reaction notifications completely.
Secondly, WhatsApp is working on a feature to automatically block spam messages. This feature aims to keep users’ inbox clean by automatically blocking spam messages that reach a certain volume. This feature, which is still in development, has not been made available for public beta testing.
Since these new features are still in beta or in development, it may take some time before they are available to all users. The first feature has already started rolling out to some Android users with WhatsApp beta version 2.24.17.21. However, the full release of both features could take months.
