WhatsApp is taking a significant step to rival Instagram’s popular Stories feature. The WhatsApp beta 2.25.21.8 update for Android on the Google Play Store has introduced a new feature that allows users to add interactive question boxes to their status updates. This move aims to transform WhatsApp Statuses from a one-way sharing space into a two-way communication hub.
How Will the New WhatsApp Feature Work?
The new system will be quite simple and user-friendly.
- One Question, One Status: Users will be able to add one “Question Box” to each status update they create. They can type any question they want into this box and share it with their followers or a designated target audience. Those who wish to ask multiple questions will need to share new statuses consecutively.
- Responses Private and Hidden: People who view your status will send you their responses directly from the box in the status interface. All responses will be collected in a special section visible only to the person who shared the status. This way, only you will know who gave which answer. Share Your Favorite Answer Anonymously: This is where the real innovation begins. You can share any incoming answer you find interesting, funny, or important to your own status with a single tap. WhatsApp prioritizes privacy during this sharing process; the identity of the sender will be completely hidden in the shared answer. Only the text of the answer will be visible on the screen. This feature encourages users to express their opinions freely.
This new WhatsApp “Question Box” feature will be a welcome addition to Instagram users. Working in much the same way as the “Question Sticker,” popular for years in Instagram Stories, this tool brings a proven formula to the WhatsApp ecosystem.
With this strategic move, WhatsApp aims to encourage users to spend more time on the platform, build deeper and more fun connections with their friends, and engage more actively with the Status feature. This feature, still in development, is expected to be available to all users in the near future.
