WhatsApp is making a radical change in design to improve user experience. Instead of gray icons, the platform is preparing to introduce themed icons that will make it easier to distinguish individual and group chats.
WhatsApp’s person and group icons are being renewed
WhatsApp recently introduced the theme feature, which allows users to choose the main color of the application. This feature included color options such as black theme for light mode and white for dark mode. The visual renewal move is now being taken a step further by adding themed icons.
The new icons will provide great convenience, especially for individuals and groups without a profile photo. Individuals who do not use a profile photo or prefer to hide their photo for privacy reasons will automatically be visible with a distinct themed icon by WhatsApp. Thus, even individuals with similar names will be able to be distinguished.
The same will apply to group chats and communities. This feature, which aims to distinguish multiple groups with the same name, will use different colors and designs. This will help users more easily recognize groups in the chat list.
The selected theme will only be visible on the device of the person who selected the theme and will not affect the other person in any way. In other words, these themes will only serve to personalize your WhatsApp application.
