In recent months, WhatsApp’s parent company Meta has included Llama 3.2 supported Meta AI in WhatsApp. Although users in Turkey cannot access Meta AI because the artificial intelligence model is not currently supported for the whole world, artificial intelligence is available in many parts of the world. The feature of remembering past chats that came to ChatGPT in the first half of this year is now coming to Meta’s WhatsApp Meta AI bot.
Meta AI will remember past chats
The information revealed with WhatsApp 2.24.22.9, the latest beta version of WhatsApp, reveals that the messaging application is working on a new chat memory feature for the Meta AI chatbot, namely the ability to remember past conversations. With this feature, Meta AI will remember past conversations and conversation details and will be able to better help by using this information in future conversations. In addition, the information collected from Meta AI on WhatsApp will be useful for the user in many issues such as personalised advertising.
By remembering past conversations, Meta AI will be able to remember many memories related to your life, such as dietary preferences (veganism, pescetarianism, vegetarianism, etc.), birthdays, an official speech, etc. In addition, Meta AI’s recall class will include information such as the user’s allergies, favourite and hated music, favourite books, documentaries and podcasts. For example, when the user asks for a recipe from Meta AI, AI will suggest the food that the user likes and will not suggest the food that the user does not like. With this feature, Meta AI is aimed to be the personal assistant of the person, just like Apple Intelligence, which we expect to come with iOS 18.1.
One of the main reasons why Meta AI will remember past chats is stated as user control and privacy. Within the application, users will be able to see and manage the data that Meta AI collects from chats. In this section, the user will be able to instantly delete the information they do not want in cases such as recording information they do not want or recording incorrect information. Apart from these, the user will also be able to remove all information instantly. There is currently no official information about when Meta AI will be available to users in Turkey with WhatsApp.
