WhatsApp is the most popular messaging application in the world. The company always keeps it at the top with new features and updates. An update on WhatsApp’s website points out that the new WhatsApp Windows app is now out of beta and available to download on the Microsoft Store. However, the macOS version is still in beta and the messaging company will launch it soon.
WhatsApp no longer requires you to link a phone
WhatsApp released an update to get out of beta on Windows. The new update brings a native Windows App for the messaging application. The new WhatsApp Windows app comes with many features such as not needing a phone, multiple devices, and a cleaner interface.
With the new WhatsApp Windows app, you don’t need to link your phone to send, receive, and sync messages. Now you can also multiple devices with the new update. You need to link the device at least once, then you will be able to use up to four linked devices while your phone is offline. However, the linked devices will be automatically logged out when you haven’t used the phone in 14 days.
These linked devices will also have end-to-end encryption for security. This feature only lets you link computers to your account. It may be available for tablets and even for additional phones soon. The application comes with a new redesign. WhatsApp’s redesign has a slightly cleaner interface but it is not much different compared to the previous version.
If you want to use linked devices, there are some limitations you need to know. For instance, if you use your phone as your primary device, you won’t have access to clear or delete chats. You also cannot send messages with link previews from WhatsApp web, message or call someone who’s using WhatsApp in a old version, as well as view live locations.
