WhatsApp is working on a new feature to ensure its users don’t miss various people’s Statuses. The popular messaging platform is testing sending reminder notifications for people’s status updates, according to leaked screenshots.
WhatsApp will send reminder notifications for status updates
WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will notify users about status updates. The screenshots revealed that there is a “Status update reminders” option in the notification settings of the app.
With this feature, users will be able to receive notifications about new posts from certain people, even if they have turned off status update notifications. This can be very useful to avoid missing posts from people who are frequently interacted with or marked as favorites.
Since status updates disappear after 24 hours, reminder notifications can help highlight new posts. Notifications will only be triggered for certain status updates, such as those from people users regularly interact with via chat and calls. This way, WhatsApp won’t overwhelm users with unnecessary notifications from people they are not very active with.
The option to enable or disable status reminders is in the Notifications section of the Settings menu. It will be turned off by default and users will need to enable it to benefit from reminders.
The new feature is currently only available for some beta testers, but WhatsApp plans to roll it out to a wider audience in the coming weeks.
