Huawei’s first luxury electric car is set to be unveiled in April. Rumors suggest that the new brand will be named Xiangjie. While BAIC boasts a rich automotive heritage, Huawei’s expertise in connectivity, smart features, sharp-edged software, and now full EV powertrain solutions promises to elevate the EV experience.

In Chinese, Xiang means to enjoy or savor, while Jie typically signifies a symbol or luxury. Combined, the name could translate to “Enjoy the New World” or “Enjoy Luxury.”

This eagerly anticipated first model, temporarily named Jie Pai (also known as X4), targets the premium market. The luxury vehicle is expected to come with a price tag ranging from approximately $41,750 to $69,550.

Initial reports suggest a spacious interior and promising design, complemented by a range of smart features powered by Huawei’s technology. Additionally, BAIC BluePark, the EV arm of BAIC Group, announced that the Xiangjie brand would not be confined to China’s borders.

The company has growth plans until 2024 to establish a distribution and service network in Europe and Asia, a strong indicator of its global ambitions. The brand, when it reaches overseas, is likely to be named STELATO.

The Future of Huawei and BAIC PartnershipThe partnership’s bold production targets are further raising industry interest. With an estimated annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles and a sales target exceeding 10,000 units per month for the first model, this venture could reshape the premium EV landscape if it delivers on its promises.

The collaboration involves Huawei’s role in providing technology components and partnering with BAIC in a deeply integrated development process. Huawei’s technological integration was already successful with the Arcfox α-S model.
