The long-awaited Snapdragon 8 Elite, which will be used in Android flagship models of the last quarter of 2024 and 2025, has finally been announced. The processor, which is more innovative compared to the previous model with its very strong performance, also seems more powerful than other models. So is Snapdragon 8 Elite or Exynos 2400 more powerful? Here are the details…
Is Snapdragon 8 Elite more powerful?
Qualcomm’s new chipset 8 Elite was announced as a 3nm processor manufactured by TSMC. While Exynos 2400 is produced with 4nm production process, it is stated that 8 Elite is more powerful and efficient. Exynos 2400, which Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, was introduced as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 competitor, so it can be considered normal that it is one click behind in performance.
The newly introduced processor hosts two main cores with a core speed of 4.32GHz and six performance cores with a core speed of 3.53GHz. When we look at the Exynos 2400 side, it comes with a total of 10 cores, including one 3.2GHz Cortex-X4, two 2.9GHz Cortex-A720 performance, three 2.6GHz Cortex-A720, and four 1.95GHz Cortex-A520.
Both processors offer LPDDR5x DRAM memory and UFS 4.0 storage support. However, since the Snapdragon 8 Elite is a newer generation, it provides much faster performance than the Exynos 2400.
As for the graphics unit, the 8 Elite has Adreno 830, probably Adreno 830, while this GPU offers 40 percent faster processing and 35 percent faster ray tracing performance. Exynos 2400 has the Xclipse 940 GPU produced with AMD RDNA3 technology. In terms of other features, both processors have the same features in general, but Elite offers higher performance compared to 2400.
