Apple analyst Mark Gurman has revealed that Apple is not planning any major updates for AirPods Max in the near future, according to the latest news. Gurman said that the earbuds, which launched in 2020 and were praised for their high quality, will not see any significant changes, except for a new version with a USB-C port. Here are the details
AirPods Max not expected for a more current model
First of all, the fact that a more updated model will not be released will inevitably disappoint users who were expecting a more powerful processor, improved active noise cancellation or new features. AirPods Max have only been updated with minor changes since their launch in 2020.
With the exception of the AirPods Max Gen 2 introduced last September, USB-C support and new color options, the product still retains its first-generation features. Apple hasn’t even integrated the H2 chip or adaptive audio technology into these headphones. As a result, it’s a bit behind the curve. Gurman says Apple doesn’t plan to invest heavily in this product because it’s neither a complete failure nor a huge hit.
The AirPods Max’s high price ($26,999) and relatively outdated technology don’t hurt their competitiveness in the headphone market. However, Gurman notes that these headphones continue to be popular, especially in upscale gyms in cities like New York and Los Angeles. In other words, the earbuds have a small audience because they appeal mostly to the wealthy.
For now, Apple will continue to sell AirPods Max in their current form and will not make any significant design or hardware changes in the short term. What do you think about this? You can share your opinions in the comments section below
