POCO’s websites to shut down by December 31st!
Xiaomi is a brand known for making bold and unexpected decisions. Previously, it dropped the “Mi” branding for its flagship models, opting for just “Xiaomi.” Now, the company has decided to shut down all POCO websites by December 31st.
According to emerging reports, Xiaomi plans to showcase POCO phone models through its main website. POCO and Redmi are key brands that have helped Xiaomi gain strength in both global and local markets in the mid-range and upper mid-range segments.
In fact, some POCO and Redmi models are sold under different sub-brands depending on the region. For example, the high-end models of the Redmi K series in Europe are sold as the POCO F series, while the upper mid-range models are marketed as the POCO X series.
It is still unclear whether Xiaomi will make any changes regarding POCO’s operational autonomy beyond shutting down the websites. As you know, although POCO operates under Xiaomi in terms of management, production, and marketing, it has a separate leadership.
POCO has especially distinguished itself with its website and colorful social media marketing, unlike the more traditional Xiaomi approach. It’s believed that the website shutdown decision is related to cost-cutting measures. For now, rumors about POCO merging with Redmi or being discontinued remain just speculation.
POCO has found significant success in the mid-range segment with its X3 and now X6 series. Additionally, the POCO F series is still referred to as the “flagship killer” in the smartphone market. Xiaomi already sells all Redmi models on its main website, and certain POCO models can also be found there. Although POCO has operated more independently, it will continue its journey under Xiaomi’s umbrella.
