The service disruption on Gmail occurred on August 8, 2024, around 11:00 PM. The outage affected users in the United States, the United Kingdom, major regions in Europe, Asia, and South America. Although the interruption was brief, the exact number of affected users is not known.

According to DownDetector, which tracked the outage throughout the day, complaints surged around 11:00 PM. Of those who reported issues, 82% struggled with sending emails, while 15% faced connectivity problems.
Although Google has not yet provided a detailed explanation via social media, they have announced through their official website that an investigation into the disruption is underway.
