First released in 2016, The Descendant has been breaking records on Steam for the last few days. The indie adventure game has toppled the charts with its unexpected player numbers. According to SteamDB, the game has reached over 115,000 concurrent players, reaching never-before-seen levels.
The Descendant’s player count had been hovering around 2-3 thousand since its release. However, it started to rise rapidly earlier this month. The reason behind this success has become a matter of curiosity. Although not officially announced, Steam Trade Offers seem to be effective.
For those who don’t know, Trading Cards are virtual items that can be collected, badged and sold on Steam. The free cards have led many users to pick up indie titles. One of these cards gave players The Descendant.
