Google’s upcoming flagship phones, the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL, will not be launching with the latest Android version as expected. Instead, they will come with Android 14 out of the box when they go on sale next week.

Google typically uses new Pixel phones to introduce the latest Android versions. This is the first time a Pixel series will launch with the previous Android version, rather than the most current one. So, why is this the case?

AI-Driven Features: Google explains that AI-supported features were developed with Android 14 and that integrating all features into Android 15 requires additional time. As a workaround, some features introduced in the Android 15 Beta have been adapted for Android 14.

Interface Updates: For instance, the new pill-shaped button design for screenshot previews, which was shown in the Android 15 Beta, will be available on the Pixel 9. This new design is said to work in harmony with the Pixel Screenshots reminder feature.

AI Features on Android 14: The Pixel 9 series will include new AI features operating on Android 14, such as Gemini Live, the floating Gemini interface, and the Pixel Studio image creator. Notable camera features include “Add me” and “Reimagine with.”

Turn Off 2G! Google Warns Against the Risks of 2G Networks”

Google has issued a warning stating that 2G networks are outdated and dangerous, urging for their immediate shutdown.

The Pixel 9 series will support some core features of Android 15 right out of the box. However, Pixel 9 owners will need to wait a few more months to experience the full Android 15 update.
