Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will merge in Android 16!

Ana sayfa / Android

Google seems to be finally taking into account the long-standing complaints of Android users. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controls in the Quick Settings panel, which were changed with Android 12, will undergo a radical change with Android 16.

Leaked Android 16 code shows that Google is preparing to address one of its biggest complaints about the interface it replaced with Android 12. It looks like one-touch Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggling is coming back.

In Android 12, Google redesigned the Quick Settings panel with larger rectangular tiles instead of small icons. However, this change meant that tapping on the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tiles opened a settings panel instead of directly turning the connection on and off. This made a two-step process that in previous Android versions could be done with a single tap.

This change was criticized by some users. Google even had to defend this decision after complaints. However, it seems that the company could not escape these complaints. Leaked code for Android 16 reveals that the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tiles have been reworked.

Users will be able to turn connections on and off with a single tap by tapping the tile icon. However, tapping on other areas of the tile will still open the settings panel as before.

This approach will both preserve one-touch access and provide an expanded settings panel in a single tile. It will only be necessary to open the panel to turn mobile data on/off.
