When it comes to Apple, the world of technology is full of curiosity. Especially during the traditional release periods of new models, Apple is the main topic of everyone. The year 2023, which we left behind a few days ago, had similar qualities. But Apple did not release a new iPad model for the first time in 14 years. So why was this done? What are the brand’s plans for the iPad? Here are the details…
How does the lack of new iPad models in 2023 affect the plans for 2024?
Let’s go back to 2010, 14 years ago. During this return process, we come across many models on the way. The first iPhone model X with FaceID, iPhone models with TouchID and more. When we come to 2010, we actually come to the place where the iPad series first started. We come to the date when the first iPad model was introduced.
Apple introduced the first iPad model in 2010 and has introduced new models every year since then. Air, Mini, Pro and so on and so on. Until the beginning of 2023, the process that continued in this way suddenly slowed down. There were claims that new iPad models would be released many times during the year. However, no iPad model took place on stage at any event.
Of course, this situation has become a matter of curiosity, especially for users who frequently use iPad models. Because people are waiting to switch to new models. For this reason, Apple analyst Mig-Chi Kuo published a roadmap on the subject. In 2022, Kuo said that Apple “does not have any iPad plans for 2023” and shows us the changes that the iPad series will experience in 2024.
According to Kuo, there will be a renewal movement in the iPad Air series at first. Two new iPad models are expected to be introduced, one with a 10.9-inch screen and the other with a 12.9-inch screen. It is also expected that the devices will be powered by the M2 chip and will be produced in the first quarter of 2024.
Later in the year, the iPad Pro series will appear with new OLED displays. In addition to the new display panels, the M3 chip will also be added to the devices. Looking at all these predictions, if Kuo is right, 2024 will be a year full of tablets for Apple. This means a little bad news for those waiting for the new MacBook series.
