Xiaomi’s new flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, will be the first model to offer satellite calling as standard. In a registration filed with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the device has appeared in 2 separate versions, the 15 Ultra and the 15 Ultra Satellite Messaging Edition, which offers more advanced communication features. Details are in our news…
The Beidou version of Xiaomi 15 Ultra comes with satellite calling
The basic model of the 15 Ultra comes with the ability to make calls over the Tiantong satellite network. In addition to this feature, the higher version can send messages via the Beidou satellite network independent of the GSM connection. So we can say that this version will offer a unique communication solution, especially in remote areas or where connectivity is poor.
We expect the device to be released in February 2025. With this date, Xiaomi plans to gain an advantage by entering the market before competitors such as OPPO Find X8 Ultra and Vivo X200 Ultra. If we look at the technical specifications, the device will offer high-end performance with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The Leica-supported camera system will come with more advanced photo and video shooting features.
The 15 Ultra’s design is said to be similar to its predecessor, the 14 Ultra, but with more sophisticated camera features and an advanced display. Do you think Xiaomi’s satellite-powered technology could usher in a new era in mobile communications? Leave your comments in the comments section below
