Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated that GTA 6 will be released in May 2026. When asked about his “level of confidence” that the game will be released on the announced date, Zelnick replied, “My level of confidence is very, very high, frankly.”
GTA 6 will not be delayed, according to Take-Two CEO
Strauss Zelnick also addressed the high expectations for GTA 6 in the interview. “We’re trying not to raise expectations, aren’t we?” the CEO asked, adding that Rockstar’s trademark is still to exceed them. “I know that’s their goal. It’s going to be a great game. We’ll see what happens when the time comes,” he added.
There are some noteworthy critical details here. While Take-Two’s CEO’s statement that “GTA 6 will not be delayed” may have reassured players, it’s worth remembering that in February, the CEO had stated that the game would be released in 2025, but just a few months later, production was postponed to May 2026.
While Take-Two’s CEO played a significant role in the decision-making process, the real deciding factor lies with GTA 6’s developer. We’ve seen numerous examples in the past, such as Cyberpunk 2077, which launched prematurely and drew intense criticism. Therefore, Rockstar will not release a game without ensuring it is fully ready.
