Rockstar Games is preparing to release Grand Theft Auto 6 around 2025. A new report has revealed that GTA 6 and PlayStation 6 will arrive at the same time. According to this, GTA 6 production company Rockstar still needs to convince users who still play GTA Online on PlayStation 4.
GTA 6 and PlayStation 6 are coming in a confusing way
Research conducted by a market analysis firm said that the GTA Online mod has an average of 20 million players per month. Figures rose to 30 million in December, following the GTA 6 launches, and as high as 25 million in June, following new content.
Most importantly, the vast majority of these players are still playing on PlayStation 4. Millions of players also access GTA Online mode on Xbox One and PC. However, Rockstar wants to appeal to the next generation by making GTA 6 available only for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This has led to new leaks about PS4 and PS6.
This split in users is quite risky for the company. Rockstar will need to maintain both the GTA Online mode and the GTA 6 multiplayer mode to ensure a smooth transition for players.
Running GTA Online and GTA 6 in parallel is likely to be difficult in terms of resources. However, research has revealed that GTA Online will pave the way for a significant transfer of existing players to the new production. Abruptly shutting down the existing game could cause Rockstar to lose many players.
