Microsoft has been trying to migrate users to Windows 11 for many years. The operating system, which gains new processor support every month for this purpose, this time stopped supporting some AMD and Intel models. Microsoft removed 44 Intel and 8 AMD models from the list of chips that support Windows 11.
Number of processors supporting Windows 11 decreased
Microsoft has updated the CPU models that Windows 11 officially supports. Accordingly, 44 Intel Xeon processors were removed from the list. On the AMD side, there were changes in some Ryzen models.
The removed Xeon processors are server-class models from Intel’s 8th generation series. Although primarily designed for servers and workstations, these Xeon processors previously supported Windows 11.
At AMD, one Athlon series processor and 7 Ryzen models are affected. These processors were developed for laptops and server-based business computers.

While this move only affects Xeon processors on the Intel side for now, it raises concerns that Microsoft may quietly remove support for Windows 11 from other processors as well.
Windows 11 PCs with these processors will not be officially supported. However, they will likely continue to receive Windows updates, as Microsoft is not retroactively discontinuing support for the time being.
