What will Vulkan API for Android games on Windows 11 do?

Microsoft has begun rolling out Vulkan graphics API support to the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) tool available to Windows 11 users. The new graphics API will allow apps to take advantage of hardware acceleration for graphics performance. Thus, the performance of Android games will increase.

The addition of Vulkan support also makes WSA more compatible with Android. Vulkan, a tool for 3D graphics technologies, directly affects the graphics of games. Developers will now be able to share Vulkan support with Windows 11.

Steam charts show Windows 7 usage on the rise again

The most used operating systems for July are now available. Windows 7 and 11 gained users, while Windows 10 declined.

Vulkan technology has been supported in Windows for many years. This means that 3D modeling tools or games on Windows use this technology. Game engines like Unreal Engine 4 and Unity also use Vulkan APIs.

For those who don’t know, Amazon and Microsoft have an agreement for Android apps. The Amazon Appstore, available on Windows 11, includes more than 11,000 apps and games.

The new WSA update highlights Microsoft’s commitment to improving mobile app compatibility and performance on Windows 11. Vulkan API integration will bring better graphics to Android games running on Windows 11.
