Windows Phone Could Return!

Ana sayfa / News

Windows Phone enthusiasts have launched a large-scale petition on Change.org urging Microsoft to re-release its mobile operating system, blending it with modern technologies. Initiated by a user named Σπύρος Κ., the petition quickly garnered hundreds of verified signatures, creating a significant buzz in the tech world.

The text shared on the platform argues that Windows Phone offered an experience far ahead of its time, highlighting the serious need for a third ecosystem focused on simplicity, efficiency, and user choice in a market dominated by iOS and Android.

Those who started the campaign are not asking for a direct return of the old software, but rather a brand-new Windows mobile experience running on current hardware. This vision prioritizes components such as full integration of Microsoft 365 services, support for the AI assistant Copilot, and a modern app store.

The petitioners are requesting a modernized version of the legendary “Live Tiles” concept with a fluid interface reflecting the design language of Windows 11. In the comments section, participants are sharing stories about why they miss Windows Phone devices, noting that the system’s speed and innovative structure are absent from current phones.

Microsoft has yet to officially respond to this request. The Change.org campaign, currently awaiting a response, has sparked discussions in tech circles about Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s past regret over the decision to shut down the mobile unit.

The company’s recent efforts to make Windows 11 compatible with handheld consoles and other form factors have fueled debate about whether such a mobile comeback is technically possible. However, technology analysts point out that Microsoft’s current strategy focuses on expanding cloud and AI services to Android and iOS platforms rather than hardware.

As the campaign continues, Microsoft’s response to this intense demand is eagerly awaited. Whether the software giant will respond to this interest or develop a new mobile strategy focused on Copilot will become clear in the coming days.
