When it comes to operating systems on computers, we see two main competitors emerge: Windows, which has the highest number of users worldwide and macOS, which is exclusive to Apple PC’s and stands out with the integration with iPhone’s. However today, the gap between the two is set to be bridged with the introduction of the Windows Phone Link app’s iPhone support.
Windows Phone Link now supports iPhone
With Windows Phone Link (Launched in 2015 and gradually gaining a large user base over time) you can manage your phone without picking it up, transfer files between your phone and computer. Even send messages and make calls.
This feature has been available only to Android users for the past seven years, making it a non-competitor for Apple’s iPhone macOS connection. However as of today, Windows Phone Link app has gained iPhone support for Windows 11 users and it will be distributed globally by May. How can we use it?
How to connect Windows Phone Link?
- First, if the application is installed on your computer, open it. If not, download it by clicking here.
- Then, choose either Android or iPhone. We will continue explaining through the Android option as we have not yet received an update for iPhone.
- Select the relevant Microsoft account, and if the application does not automatically appear on your smartphone (many brands now offer it as a standard), download it from the link below.
- If it appears automatically or you have already installed it, scan the QR code with the “Use QR code” option in the application as shown below.
- When the first connection is established in the application on your phone, you will be asked for some permissions for data sharing. Note that different permissions such as Messages, Calls, Camera, and Gallery may be requested.
- Once the process is completed, you can access all your applications, gallery, messages, and call section as shown in the images above and below, and use any application you want through your computer while your phone’s screen is on.
- Note: Currently, photo synchronization (which means using the gallery via the application) is not available for iOS users.
