People are mistaking it for a bat! China developed a wing-flapping aircraft

Ana sayfa / News

In recent years, significant advancements in technology have led to the development of various aircraft, which make significant contributions when used for military purposes. The latest aircraft developed in China has managed to capture attention. It is a wing-flapping aircraft. Here are the details:

Developed by Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) in Xi’an, China, the aircraft resembling a bat, known as an ornithopter, has been introduced. For those unfamiliar, an ornithopter refers to aircraft that flap their wings to fly, much like birds.

Named the “Little Falcon,” this aircraft is about the size of a bird. With a conical crank mechanism, it mimics the flight of birds and can glide and turn as expected. Additionally, its retractable and foldable wings provide a unique flying experience.

Moreover, it features the ability to fold its wings by flapping, fold one wing during flight, adjust flapping speed, and lock its wings for gliding. All these features have been tested through computational fluid dynamics simulations.

According to reports, the Little Falcon can be used for military reconnaissance, wildlife monitoring, and environmental protection purposes. It is said to have a low likelihood of attracting the attention of wild animals, providing a significant advantage for ecological monitoring.

China has ramped up its space exploration efforts!

China has accelerated its space exploration efforts, once again making headlines with its aggressive policies. Here are the details...

Another advantage of the Little Falcon ornithopter is its utility in the military domain. Particularly when flying at high altitudes, it closely resembles real birds, providing natural camouflage. Without special equipment, it is difficult to discern it as a reconnaissance aircraft.

Northwestern Polytechnical University, the developer of this aircraft, maintains close contact with the Chinese Ministry of National Defense. It’s noted that this university produces 90% of the country’s aircraft, which is why it’s even included on the US sanctions list.

What are your thoughts on this topic? How do you find the ornithopter produced in China, which resembles a bird? Feel free to share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
