Recently, Google has been making various improvements and radical innovations to many of its applications, including Google Photos. Now, Google has started focusing on the web versions of its apps, as well as mobile ones: Google Photos has now received a beloved feature from its mobile version on the web. Here are the details and what you need to know…
Google Photos now has auto-backup!
Until now, if you wanted to back up your photos on the web version of Google Photos, you had to manually select and upload them each time. This cumbersome process is now a thing of the past with the new update. From now on, you’ll be able to select your desired folders and activate the automatic backup feature.
How to use the new feature?
- Click here to go to Google Photos.
- Go to the ‘Back up folders’ option from the upload menu.
- Select your desired folder and grant the necessary permissions.
- Your selected folder will now be backed up automatically.
After activating the folder backup feature, you can monitor the backup status in real-time through a pop-up window. In this window, you can see the number of files being backed up and the total size, and you can remove the folder with just one click from the three-dot menu.
All you need to do is occasionally visit Google Photos’ web page. Although it’s not as seamless as Google Drive’s background backup system, it seems to offer a much more practical solution compared to manual uploads.
What do you think about this feature? Have you tried using the web version of the app? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments.
