The Bluesky app has reached an important milestone, surpassing 20 million users. Considering that the platform reached 15 million users only a week ago, the recent growth is quite impressive.
The platform, which has seen a dramatic rise over the past three months, has shown remarkable growth, almost tripling its user base. Here are the details
Bluesky competes with X and Threads
While the user base is still small compared to competitors like Threads and X, the rise of the Bluesky platform is remarkable. Last week, the app added one million new users in just 24 hours.
According to the information provided by Instagram President Adam Mosseri, it recorded a similar pace to Threads, which collected a million new records a day for nearly three months. Threads has now reached 275 million monthly users and has added at least 15 million users since the beginning of November.
Bluesky remains below its rival, but is showing signs of significant growth. It has been the most downloaded app in Apple’s App Store for the past six days, according to App Figures, and was the top non-gaming app on Google Play for four days. Threads currently ranks second in the App Store.
New stop for those ‘escaping’ from X: Bluesky
Over the past year Bluesky has experienced other growth spurts. But the current increase far exceeds what we have seen in the past. The increase seems to be partly due to growing frustration among X users.
According to emerging data, there was a significant spike in traffic to the Bluesky app on 7 November (the day after the US presidential election). This spike coincided with an increase in the number of people trying to deactivate their X accounts.
