Xbox-exclusive games have been available for PlayStation 5 for some time now. Microsoft’s policy of cross-platform expansion seems to be working. Xbox-exclusive pirate game Sea of Thieves was the best-selling game on PlayStation 5 last month.
Sea of Thieves is the best-selling game on PlayStation 5
Sea of Thieves topped the PlayStation 5 charts for May sales in both the US and Europe. The pirate-themed game, which debuted on PlayStation earlier this year, is now number one on the rival console’s sales charts for the first time.
Originally released in 2018, Sea of Thieves was an Xbox and PC exclusive. However, Microsoft announced that it would bring it to PlayStation 5 to bring more popular first-party games. This cross-platform expansion seems to have worked for Sea of Thieves.
Not only did the piracy-themed game find a new audience on the PS5, but it also performed significantly, ranking first in sales. Even if it’s a third-party game, it’s also known that Microsoft will take a share of sales on PlayStation platforms.
