Xbox handheld coming? Critical statement from CEO

Microsoft held its Xbox Games Showcase event the other day, discussing games coming to Xbox and PC. It also unveiled refurbished versions of its Series X/S console. Although no handheld console was shown at the event, Xbox Gaming CEO Phil Spencer made a statement about the Xbox handheld console.

In a post-event interview, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer talked about the closure of Microsoft-affiliated studios. Asked about Tango Gameworks, Spencer said that the decisions were difficult but that they were thinking about the long-term sustainability of Xbox. Tango is known for Ghostwire: Tokyo and The Evil Within series.

Spencer also noted that Xbox console sales have experienced double-digit growth for the last five years. He also emphasized that Microsoft wants to create revenue growth for the Xbox Game Pass service.

On the other hand, he mentioned the handheld console, which has been on the agenda with leaks for a while. During the interview, Spencer hinted that they are working on a new portable Xbox console, saying “We should have a handheld device”.
