Rare introduces Sea of Thieves Season 12 to coincide with the console’s launch, packing the pirate sandbox with new weapons, tools and mechanics to enhance nautical adventures. Players will have more ways than ever to customize their playstyle and encounters with the Season 12 launch.
Sea of Thieves Season 12
Two new ranged weapons have been added to the arsenal. Dual pistols provide high damage up close, but require reloading between shots. Meanwhile, throwing knives can be thrown at enemies from a distance or reused after being collected. For close combat, the bone-shattering saber and blunderbuss remain staples.
Magic-like tools also make their debut. The Bone Caller summons skeletal minions to help your crew with a smash. Conversely, the Horn of Fair Winds unleashes gusts that can launch or steady sailors for better or worse. Coordination will be key when dealing with these unpredictable allies and foes.
On the other hand, the PlayStation 5 version supports 4K/60fps or 1080p/120fps for those with compatible displays. Its DualSense controller with haptic feedback syncs with actions like firing cannonballs.
Cross-play is enabled by default and all players must sign in with a Microsoft account to access the game. It’s worth noting, however, that Microsoft and PSN accounts can only be linked once, and this decision cannot be undone later. Rare says that you will only need to initiate the link using the Microsoft profile that holds the account’s progress in order to continue playing on PlayStation 5.
