Xiaomi is preparing to add a new high-end device to its tablet lineup shortly after launching the Pad 7S Pro. According to leaked information, the new tablet, expected to be called the “Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro,” will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The device is planned to be unveiled alongside the Xiaomi 16 series smartphones. The launch date is expected to be late September or early October.
Xiaomi to Launch the Pad 8 Pro Tablet
The first notable feature of the new model’s hardware is its arrival with an 11- to 12-inch IPS LCD display. It’s noteworthy that Xiaomi hasn’t opted for an OLED panel, even in this segment. This choice could create a divide among potential users regarding screen quality, given the high expectations of existing users. Technical details such as the screen’s resolution and refresh rate have not yet been finalized.
The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro is also expected to feature significant battery improvements. While technical data for the battery, which has only been described as “large capacity” so far hasn’t been shared, considering that the previous model, the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, had an 8850 mAh capacity, the new model is expected to surpass this level.
Another notable detail about the Pad 8 Pro is the improvements specifically made to gaming performance. While the specific innovations haven’t been announced, more advanced cooling systems, game modes, or additional hardware improvements are being considered. Xiaomi is expected to more directly address the gaming-focused tablet segment with this model.
For comparison, the Pad 7S Pro model came with a Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, an 11.2-inch IPS LCD display, a 144Hz refresh rate, and an 8850 mAh battery. It also supported 67W fast charging, reaching 40% charge in just 20 minutes. The Pad 8 Pro is expected to surpass this technical level.
With the Pad 8 Pro, Xiaomi aims not only to offer a more technically powerful tablet but also to reach a wider audience, including gaming enthusiasts. The new model is poised to be one of the key mobile devices to be unveiled in the second half of the year.
