Xiaomi entered the vehicle world by introducing its first electric car, the SU7, in recent months. The Chinese manufacturer, which made a big impact with Xiaomi Auto, started working on several new models. The first official statement about Xiaomi SU8 came from the company spokesperson.
Xiaomi SU8 claims denied
Xiaomi Public Relations Manager Wang Hua denied rumors that the SU8 will be launched soon. The claims that emerged last month had revealed that Xiaomi was working on a new SUV model. There were even images claiming that the SU8 would be unveiled on July 16.
Wang said in a statement that there are no plans for the SU8 launch and that the posters are fake. But that hasn’t stopped speculation about Xiaomi’s roadmap. Rumors that the company is developing an SUV codenamed MX11 are still ongoing. Even spy images of the vehicle have leaked.
With a similar design to the SU7, the MX11 looks like it will have a thin hood and flashy headlights. There is also a pebble-shaped laser radar mounted on the roof. MX11 has side-mounted cameras and yellow brake calipers. The wheels look like multi-spoke alloys.
On the other hand, Xiaomi used BYD’s blade batteries in its first models. In the new SU7 models, it will also benefit from CATL’s battery technology. In the second model, CATL batteries will be given more weight.
According to industry reports, this SUV will be Xiaomi’s second electric vehicle. Still, it is thought to be more than a year away from its official launch.
