It has emerged that Xiaomi has joined its rivals, such as Huawei, in researching new foldable displays. Accordingly, the company is reportedly working on a foldable smartphone three times. According to claims from China, Xiaomi wants to produce a smartphone with a tablet-sized screen.
Xiaomi is working on a triple foldable phone
No technical specifications have been given regarding the smartphone, however the main focus will be on the display side. In this context, it is estimated that the device will have HyperOS interface, Snapdragon chipset and Leica branded multi-camera setup.
Xiaomi currently offers two popular foldable models, the vertically foldable Mix Flip and the outward foldable Mix Fold. But rumor has it that the triple foldable phone will be Xiaomi’s biggest foray into the foldable market.
The triple foldable is expected to be released in 2025, following Huawei’s rumored unveiling of its own triple foldable device in September. Leaked photos of Huawei have shown a 10-inch model that’s almost tablet-sized when fully opened.
The source also suggests that this tri-fold phone could eventually replace both the iPad and existing foldable phones. However, we also know that innovative products first come to market with quite high price tags
This new device shows that Xiaomi aims to strengthen its position in the foldable phone market and continue its claim to be a pioneer in technological innovation. However, only time will tell the true potential and market success of the device.
