The Xiaomi SU7 was caught by spy photographers while speeding on the Nürburgring track, and it appears to be equipped with a special aerodynamic kit for the track. The vehicle features a large fixed spoiler at the rear and a notable splitter on the front bumper.
This suggests that the Xiaomi SU7 model may have been transformed into a performance-oriented beast. So, what is the goal? According to rumors, they might be aiming to beat the Nürburgring track record set by the Porsche Taycan. But can a standard electric vehicle compete with racing cars?
If Xiaomi SU7 aims to set a record like the Porsche Taycan, aerodynamic improvements alone may not be enough; they will need more power. As you know, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT boasts 815 kW (1,108 horsepower) and completed the Nürburgring (Nordschleife) track in 7:07.55. Currently, the most powerful version of the Xiaomi SU7 offers 495 kW (673 horsepower). This means Xiaomi will need to develop a more powerful engine for this competition.
Unfortunately, the spy photos do not clearly show the interior of the SU7. However, we will have to wait a little longer to see if any changes have been made for weight reduction. Perhaps Xiaomi has taken some radical steps to lighten the interior.
