Xiaomi has issued a warning for a new generation of screen protector. It said screen protectors with UV liquid have been popular lately, but this filling can leak into the device. This could lead to the phone being out of warranty.
Xiaomi issues warning for UV-filled screen protector
Xiaomi is warning users about the risks of installing UV-filled screen protectors on their devices. In a statement on the subject, Xiaomi said that liquid adhesive can cause some problems if not applied properly. Liquid UV can leak into sensitive areas such as buttons, ports and speakers.
According to Xiaomi’s statement, these errors can lead to random reboots, button failures and even external case damage. Even more worrying is that the liquid UV screen protector could void the warranty of the device.
Xiaomi said that any repairs needed to fix the damage caused by the protector will not be covered under warranty. Even if users don’t have problems with the liquid UV filling, the risks of misapplication could void the warranty.
Xiaomi invited to use other screen protectors that do not risk liquid leakage problems. It recommends standard options such as tempered glass, plastic film or ghost glass. It also says that the UV-filled protector can also damage the standard glass panel and wants users to use these options.
