Tech giant Xiaomi is rapidly proving its expertise in the automotive sector. The YU7 SUV has surprised the market by achieving high sales volume in a short time. According to October 2025 data, total retail sales of the Xiaomi EV reached 48,654 vehicles, of which the YU7 accounted for 33,662 units.

Independent market analysis shows that this figure surpasses domestic deliveries of its long-time rival, the Tesla Model Y, in the same month. Cumulative YU7 deliveries have exceeded 70,000 units since it began shipping in July, solidifying Xiaomi’s place among the country’s leading EV manufacturers.

Not resting on its laurels, Xiaomi is introducing major safety improvements via over-the-air (OTA) updates. Its advanced driver assistance system, Xiaomi HAD Enhanced, is being rolled out across the entire lineup via Xiaomi HyperOS 1.11. A significant upgrade is the addition of the new low-speed forward and reverse automatic emergency braking (LAEB/RAEB) feature.

This system now operates at speeds up to 1 km/h forward and 30 km/h reverse, automatically braking when it detects pedestrians, other vehicles, or two-wheelers and the driver doesn’t react. The updated system also recognizes static obstacles often overlooked by drivers, such as walls, pillars, and crash barriers.

To celebrate its market success, Xiaomi unveiled a limited-edition “Crystal Purple” special paint version of the YU7 Max at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show. This was the official launch of the brand’s commitment to offering a bespoke vehicle painting service, with a goal of offering 100 unique colors within the next three years.

These special paint options start from 11,000 RMB (approximately €1,310) and allow buyers to choose from special alloy wheels, colored Brembo brake calipers and exclusive finishes such as black/white ceramic, gold carbon fiber or, perhaps the most eye-catching option, 24-karat gold.
