Xiaomi managed to make a big impact in the world with its first electric car named SU7. The reports that emerged last week revealed that vehicles that are both cheaper and different from the SUV categories are being developed. Xiaomi Motors was not late in making a statement regarding these allegations.
Xiaomi denied new electric car claims
Xiaomi has addressed some allegations about its sub-brand Xiaomi Motors, which produces electric cars. Reports published in China had revealed that the company will introduce 7 electric cars in the coming period. An official denied these reports.
Xiaomi’s Public Relations Manager Wang Hua shared a post stating that these allegations are not true. A Xiaomi spokesperson said in a statement that the news was “confirmed to be completely untrue”.
Some allegations that emerged in recent weeks had revealed that Xiaomi Motors was developing a hybrid platform with extended range. Accordingly, it was said that 3 SUV models will be launched by 2025.
It was claimed that SUV models would be suitable for family use and would be sold at lower prices compared to Chinese competitors. It was also stated that Xiaomi is working on a new electric SUV rivaling Tesla Model Y. A high-performance model targeting the NIO ET7 is also in the works.
However, Xiaomi denied all these claims about its electric product range and launch schedule. It should be noted that the company continues its work on the Xiaomi SU7 for now.
