Xiaomi has been developing an electric car for a long time and has been doing important work for this vehicle. The first fully electric Xiaomi car model has been on the table for a long time. What brought the vehicle to the agenda today was the first heavily camouflaged photos. According to sources, the vehicle was seen for the first time while being tested on real roads.
Xiaomi’s first electric car will compete with Tesla’s Model 3 sedan
The all-electric and four-door sedan will be launched against the Tesla Model 3 in the market, according to new claims. The vehicle will start at 38 thousand dollars. Xiaomi is reportedly developing two different versions of its first car. The price of the first vehicle will vary between 38-44 thousand dollars depending on the options. This vehicle will use a BYD lithium iron phosphate battery with 400V support. The second version will start at 51 thousand dollars. This vehicle will use an 800V CATL Qilin battery. Also, this battery will be able to reach 80 percent charge in just 15 minutes under proper conditions.
Xiaomi wants to enter the automobile market in 2024, where it sees a great future. It is also in negotiations with other China-based companies. According to the information that appeared in the past months, the company’s first vehicle will be equipped with a laser-based LiDAR sensor for autonomous driving. Also, the company attaches great importance to this issue. For this reason, it has been conducting real-life tests with an autonomous test car called Pilot Test for a long time. The company, which has more than 500 employees for autonomous driving systems, aims to be the leader of this side in 2024 with its major investments.
It is claimed that Xiaomi will include Qualcomm and Nvidia processors in its first vehicle and will work with Continental for sensors. The company’s second electric car, named “Le mans”, will reportedly be launched in 2025. This vehicle will share the same basis as the first model but will be a much more powerful option with three electric motors. This vehicle will most likely be an SUV.
