According to a report by SmartPrix, Xiaomi has decided to cancel its upcoming 15 Civi model, signaling a possible shift in the company’s approach to the premium mid-range smartphone market.
Xiaomi 15 Civi cancelled
The Xiaomi 15 Civi was expected to launch as the successor to the 14 Civi released in June 2024. The device was rumored to be a rebranded version of the China-only Civi 5 Pro, featuring a 6.55-inch micro-curved display with a 1.5K resolution.
Under the hood, the phone would have been powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage options.
Photography was set to be a highlight with a Leica-branded triple camera setup on the back — consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens. For selfies, a 50MP front camera was also planned. The device was to be fueled by a 6,000mAh battery supporting 67W fast charging.
The cancellation of a nearly finalized model likely stems from disappointing sales figures of its predecessor. Rumors suggest that Xiaomi may now prioritize its budget-friendly Redmi lineup over premium mid-range offerings, potentially marking a strategic pivot in product focus.
